Learning
Christian disciples develop their faith and grow in Christ-likeness through study and learning. This is best done in community and replicates the way Jesus deliberately taught his disciples. We learn in community because others keep us faithful to the task of growth in Christ, and we cannot learn spiritual qualities such as foregiveness, grace, love, and humility by our selves, but only by practising our faith with others. For this reason Banner Cross Methodist Church is running another DISCIPLE Course from September 2011. - Faith development includes bible study, reading books related to Christianity and attending courses and discussion groups about Christianity.
A regular time for Bible study is on Fridays 10.30 to 11.30 a.m. at Banner Cross Methodist Church in Room 6. This is a drop in session with no requirement to read the Bible before the session. Everyone is welcome. For more information on the study session. Various options to Bible study for those groups who are stuck in a rut and want to try a new way of running a bible study are available. We would like to hear about how the Bible has impacted on your life. Just fill in the Bible Reading form. - There is a bookshelf in the coffee lounge containing Bibles, books, magazines and leaflets which anyone can borrow. The books covers topics such as worship, prayer and the witness of Christians in the modern world. Reviews of some of the books and magazines can be found on the bookshelf page. - Banner Cross Methodist Church runs class groups for those adults who wish to explore the Christian faith further. - Learning is required by certain members of Banner Cross Methodist Church so that they can be effective in their job. The Church is a registered charity and as such has to conform to the requirements of various laws. This is not optional and non-compliance can result in large fines. The church encourages people to undertake any training that is required so that risks of non-compliance are minimised. - The Church places great emphasis on Safeguarding of Children, Young People and Vulnerable Adults so it makes sure that people working with children, young people and vulnerable adults attend the Methodist training course on safeguarding. In addition we encourage people who run or help run children's, young person's and vulnerable adults activities to attend external training courses. |
