Methodist Relief And Development Fund

Methodist Relief and Development Fund - celebrating small miracles:

MRDF grew out of the desire to enable Methodist people to respond effectively, in the context of global poverty and injustice, to the commandments of Jesus to love God and love our neighbour. It exists to bring about significant and long term change in some of the world's most marginalised communities, and to contribute to the eradication of poverty by empowering people to change structures that are oppressive and unjust.

MRDF makes small miracles possible for people living in the world's poorest communities, focusing support according to greatest need and regardless of faith, through:

i. long-term development, campaigning against the causes of poverty, and

ii. emergency relief, working only through existing local Methodist Churches and partner organisations who best know the local context and needs, and Action by Churches Together (ACT), to ensure money is well-spent. Where possible, MRDF prioritises 'forgotten emergencies' and supports small organisations, which are often unable to access funding from bigger agencies.

MRDF supports more than 43 local, community-based organisations in 21 of the poorest countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America, helping individuals and communities to transform their lives and become more self-sufficient.
